East Carolina University’s Student Union is a vibrant 79 000 ft² hub designed by Steinberg Hart and MHAworks, serving as the beating heart of campus life on Greenville’s health sciences quad . Bathed in natural light through a three‑story glass beacon, the building brings together formal meeting rooms, casual study areas, a food court with coffee shop, convenience store, recreation areas, health services and administrative offices. An intentionally open staircase system encourages movement and interaction, embodying active design principles. Earning LEED Gold certification in 2021, this space offers students a welcoming gathering place that supports learning, wellness and community—solidifying its role as a cornerstone that shapes the student experience and defines a new civic gateway for the university.
