Dr. Ebata’s personal aesthetic played a crucial role in shaping the clinic’s design. “Our home has a very modern design, hence one of the reasons we used Longboard for its construction,” he explained. The intention was clear: to create a space that felt modern, luxurious, and welcoming, defying the cold, impersonal feel of traditional medical offices. The clinic needed to provide a high-end retail experience, blending a minimalist approach with comfort and sophistication.
One of the most significant design departures was the decision to forgo a traditional waiting area filled with rows of uncomfortable chairs. Instead, the team chose to create a lounge area, complete with a cozy couch, a coffee table, and even a chandelier. “We have a beverage fridge and a custom sunglasses display with a fireplace,” Dr. Ebata said, emphasizing the clinic’s commitment to providing a more relaxed and inviting environment. This design choice allows patients to feel comfortable and at ease, setting a new standard for what an optometry office can be.
